One Islam

Assalamu-alaikum brothers and sisters. The main purpose of this blog 'One Islam' is to try and encourage awareness of your religion. Also, to help understanding of the Quran which are the words of Allah.

I would like to also take this oppurtunity to explain the title chosen for this blog i.e 'One Islam'. The reason for this is that Islam should not be divided. Allah states this clearly in the Quran:

(6:159)

"Verily, those who divide their religion and break up into sects (all kinds of religious sects), you (O Muhammed

صلى الله عليه وسلم) have no concern in them in the least. Their affair is with Allah, Who will then tell them what they used to do."

Furthermore,

(42:13)

"He (Allah) has ordained for you the same religion (Islamic monotheism) which He ordained for Nuh (Noah), and that We have revealed to you (O Muhammed

صلى الله عليه وسلم), and that which We ordained for Ibrahim (Abraham), Musa (Moses) and Isa (Jesus) saying you should establish religion (i.e to do what it orders you to do practically) and make no divisions in it (religion) (i.e various religious sects). Intolerable for the Mushrikun is that (Islamic monotheism) to which you (O Muhammed

صلى الله عليه وسلم) call them. Allah chooses for Himself whom He wills, and guides unto Himself who turns to Him in repentance and in obediance."

So we see from the Quran, Allah's words, that we should remain as one Ummah, and not divide ourselves into various sects. So when you are asked whether you are 'Sunni' or 'Shia', your answer is simply 'I am a Muslim'.
